So I wanted to do Finish Friday (my own challenge), but I ended up being a day late with this one, based off a bassline I came up with during 50/90 of last year. I did everything else (including the gutiar feedback before the last chorus haha) from the ground up though and it took a very long time. I'm happy how it came out. Reminds me a lot of Weezer (Specifically "No One Else" and "Friend of a Friend") and Dermot. Also reminds me a bit of Incubus's Morning View album during the pre-chorus as well. I was gonna add bongos, but I can't find them, and I've been working on this song too long anyways. :P Working titles for this include Rainfall, Ancient Flame, and Flame In The Rain.
lyrics
Verse 1:
8 months later
And the sea is changing tide
Telepathic favor
Sensed it even though I lied
An ancient flame
With tiger stripes across the night sky
You're still the same
I see it even from a drive by
Pre-Chorus:
The drought has ended
Not a flood, but just a rainfall
And that's all I'll ever ask for
So keep it coming
Verse 2:
8 months later
And you're out of hibernation
And you're identical
Even though I know I'm aging
An ancient flame
Orange, red, and black across the night sky
You haven't changed
Although our well is running dry
Pre-Chorus:
The drought has ended
Not a flood, but just a rainfall
And that's all I'll ever ask for
So keep it coming
Chorus:
So I travel deep in time
And hope to find you
Somewhere deep inside my mind
Between the tissue
Verse 3:
8 months later
And I'm out of things to say
And I might waiver
Turn from silver into gray
Red, black, and blue
It's true that you could always get me
And you just flew
I missed you deeply and completely
*solo*
Pre-Chorus:
The drought has ended
Not a flood, but just a rainfall
And that's all I'll ever ask for
So keep it coming
Chorus:
So I travel deep in time
And hope to find you
Somewhere deep inside my mind
Between the tissue

John Vermeersch: Bass, guitar, and vocals
Our first album is a raw piece of garage (er, basement) rock, heavily inspired by Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Weezer. It's rough, but it's free, and in my biased opinion, worth a listen. John Vermeersch
