I've been having trouble coming up with melodies I like this year (or at least the type I'm hoping to write) and I got pretty discouraged because of that. Then I remembered a piece of advice I always give other people struggling with songwriting; you should follow through with a song even if it's bad because finishing songs in and of itself is valuable. And that's especially true for 50/90. So I turned off the inner critic and followed through with this droney song about trying to find the muse again. I liked the chorus melody initially but was kind of hating everything else. I think it's okay now that it's done though. It's not really what I'm trying to write, but it's a finished song and it's mine and it's not bad.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Where do you go when I need you the most?
Where do you go when I run low on hope?
Where do you when the end's feeling close?
Where do you go now?
My recollection says that we used to work
A distant memory of which I'm not sure
It's been long enough for that memory to contort
Where do you go now?
Chorus:
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
*solo*
Verse 2:
I couldn't tell you when we lost the spark
It's felt like years stumbling around in the dark
Impaled with pieces of my broken heart
Where did I go now?
I hate this morning, I hate what it means
Relearning years worth of important things
Kicking and screaming to start the machine
Where did it go now?
Chorus:
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
*solo*
Chorus:
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new
You said "bye, baby"
I tried to be someone new

Our first album is a raw piece of garage (er, basement) rock, heavily inspired by Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Weezer. It's rough, but it's free, and in my biased opinion, worth a listen. John Vermeersch
