I've been having trouble coming up with melodies I like this year (or at least the type I'm hoping to write) and I got pretty discouraged because of that. Then I remembered a piece of advice I always give other people struggling with songwriting; you should follow through with a song even if it's bad because finishing songs in and of itself is valuable. And that's especially true for 50/90. So I turned off the inner critic and followed through with this droney song about trying to find the muse again. I liked the chorus melody initially but was kind of hating everything else. I think it's okay now that it's done though. It's not really what I'm trying to write, but it's a finished song and it's mine and it's not bad.
