For this song, I tuned my guitar up a half step so I could play "Kiss Me" by Sixpence None The Richer (I lost my capo). I started noodling around with the chord progression, inspired to do some descending chords due to the progression for that song. It seemed natural to add a little country riff in there too, which gave the song a little bit of that type of character, especially paired with the lyrics. The melodies turned really power pop because I've been listening to a lot of Phantom Planet lately. I came up with most of the melody with my voice but the main "I don't wanna leave your side, you always seem to catch my eye" came from the guitar and that lift up seemed to be the catchiest part. Lyrically, it's about my own desires and reservations regarding moving and I framed it as a song sung to a partner. Maybe that partner is myself :P I had a lot of fun layering harmonies and extra instruments on here, I haven't been able to do a lot of that stuff in a long time.
