about

Recorded all the instrumentals for this a few days back, and just got back to write the lyrics and do the vocals/mixing today. Used a weird electric I found at a garage sale for $10 (says "ROCK AXE" on the headstock) to get that authentically shitty guitar tone. May or may not have ripped off "Fun Time" by Homie on the verse chords and melody. Call and response back up vocals are an idea stolen from "Bled White" by Elliott Smith as well.

Lyrics take inspiration from a party I went to a while ago (was pretty rad, actually), to sort of draw out the feelings of being alienated and tired of "fake" people. Don't know how I feel about the lyrics (Second verse especially but the whole thing, really), but I think it turned out nice enough.

Alternate titles:
Water is Fine
Socialites

lyrics

Verse 1:
When I'm out at 11
I have the longest nights
I'm drinking out of a red cup
But water does just fine

I wanna see all the movie stars
And all the famous bands
But I sit by myself instead
With all my worn out plans

Chorus:
Disarm the bomb
So I can live inside an hour
They say the socialites
End up with all the power

Verse 2:
When I'm out at 11
Always go home sad (I'm sorry, I don't like it)
Left all my microphones at home
I wanna cry so bad (Good try but I don't like it)

Spilled my drink on the speaker
The shortest circuit blew (Hey, have you heard the rumors?)
And nobody can reconnect
So now the party's through (It's wrong but I want rumors)

Chorus:
Disarm the bomb
So I can live inside an hour
They say the socialites
End up with all the power

The door is locked
It's blocked off by a telephone
I'll try to find a ride
I just wanna go home

Verse 3:
When I'm out at 11
I have the longest nights
I'm drinking out of a plastic red cup
But water does just fine

I wanna see all the movie stars
And all the famous bands
But I sit by myself instead
With all these worn out plans

Chorus:
Disarm the bomb
So I can live inside an hour
They say the socialites
End up with all the power

The door is locked
It's blocked off by a telephone
I'll try to find a ride
I just wanna go home

Disarm the bomb
So I can live inside an hour
They say the socialites
End up with all the power
