Wrote this power ballad the other day acoustically, and then added some electric guitar and drums to it. Lyrics are basically all anime references (maybe my friend Barry Goldman will catch some of them haha) tying into the theme of acting on your feelings. Musically, I think it was subconsciously inspired by "Name" by The Goo Goo Dolls.
lyrics
Verse 1:
Suzuka was joking and the bridge collapsed
Track stars always finish last
Phone booth totalled by a car
Three years gone and you'll go far
Menma fell into a lake
Ignore it, please, just for his sake
Don't wait for your heart to beat
Cause that's a pointless, slow defeat
Verse 2:
One wrong move and then another
Confession's gone, I feel you, brother
Years in the making, an anti-climax
A childhood friend can't get her time back
Dead eyed, outside, Christmas Eve
With disappointment up her sleeve
And yet you act like nothing happened
You'll get kicked down, so better strap in
Chorus:
Don't wait for someone
To tell you the truth
Don't feel so guilty
And don't act aloof
You were born into this
You dealt with all of it
Least you can do
Is make a move
Verse 3:
Kill your friends to make it stop
And spin out like a spinning top
Emotionless, a clone at best
But somehow better than the rest
Isolated half by choice
A sword, a boyfriend, and a voice
Way too shy to let it go
But too prideful to let it show
Chorus:
Don't wait for someone
To tell you the truth
Don't feel so guilty
And don't act aloof
You were born into this
You dealt with all of it
Least you can do
Is make a move
Bridge:
I want you next to me
And I don't feel guilty
You shouldn't either
If that's how you wanna be
It should be easy
To let go of all my words
But when I do
It only hurts
Chorus:
Don't wait for someone
To tell you the truth
Don't feel so guilty
And don't act aloof
You were born into this
You dealt with all of it
Least you can do
Is make a move

John Vermeersch: Guitar, vocals, bass, bongos, and snare drum
Our first album is a raw piece of garage (er, basement) rock, heavily inspired by Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Weezer. It's rough, but it's free, and in my biased opinion, worth a listen. John Vermeersch
