I love this one. Turned into a 5 minute epic really quick haha. Experimenting with changing up the bassline between verses, and in general, I think this has one of the best basslines I've done this year. I'm also liking how I'm keeping the harmonies kind of sparse, but effective lately. Cheesy love songs are my favorite things to write. Recorded most of this the other day, but the solo today.
lyrics
Verse 1:
It's over with no drama
Communication's kind of
At a pause
But that's because
I let go what I had to say
Didn't matter anyway
But it's fine
Cause I'm out of time
Chorus:
I walk behind you, baby
And that's just fine
I'd like to know you better
But I'm alright
Verse 2:
You're swimming to the future
I'm feeling like a loser
But I'm fine
That you're not mine
Second life a mystery
Never will be known to me
But that's cool
You do you
Chorus:
I walk behind you, baby
And that's just fine
I'd like to know you better
But I'm alright
I walk behind you, baby
I've got your back
If it's better to ignore me
Then stay on track
Bridge:
Do you think it's a dream
Could it really be real?
Feels too perfect and faded for me
Do you know how I feel?
*solo*
Interlude (Verse):
Thank you (x4)
Chorus:
I walk behind you, baby
And that's just fine
I'd like to know you better
But I'm alright
I walk behind you, baby
I've got your back
If it's better to ignore me
Then stay on track
I think it's over, baby
But that's just fine
I'd like to know you better
But I'm alright

John Vermeersch: Guitar, bass, tambourine, and vocals
Our first album is a raw piece of garage (er, basement) rock, heavily inspired by Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Weezer. It's rough, but it's free, and in my biased opinion, worth a listen. John Vermeersch
